McKinney Texas is a city on the north side of the DFW metroplex and is the county seat of Collin county although Plano which is located southwest of McKinney is actually the most populous city in the county. The city is bordered by Prosper to the northwest, Melissa to the north, New Hope to the northeast, Princeton to the east, Fairview to the southeast, Allen to the south, Plano to the southwest, and Frisco to the east. US-75 and state highway 121 run through the McKinney area providing convenient travel to far away portions of the metroplex. The city is rapidly developing and the population is exploding with affluent professionals and families. The atmosphere in McKinney is very family oriented and is a wonderful place to raise kids. The city is also great for students and professionals because it is close to well rated colleges and is situated along the northern end of the telecom and IT corridor of DFW.

Major employers in the area are the local school district and Raytheon, but don’t let that mislead you as many of the world’s largest engineering, telecom, and IT companies are located just a short drive down US-75 from McKinney.

While there are strips of nationally recognized restaurants and stores all throughout McKinney, there are also a number of great places to shop, eat or be entertained in nearby cities. Just south on US-75 the Allen Premium outlets and Stonebriar Centre is along hwy 121.

McKinney is largely served by McKinney ISD but parts fall into Frisco ISD, Allen ISD, and Prosper ISD. Higher education is available at one of the nearby Collin County Community College campuses, Dallas County Community College Campuses or at UTD in nearby Richardson.

McKinney is one of the best places to live whether you are looking for your family, your career, to be a student or for mere convenience.
