Highway 290 or Northwest Freeway is a major scenic route that stretches from just west of Austin and passes through Hill Country ending up in Northwest Houston at the I-610 Interchange. The majority of the Houston area portion of this major road spans from Cypress into Houston proper and passes through major areas such as Steeplechase and Jersey Village it also intersects with the Sam Houston Tollway. This is a large span of Northwest Houston that contains many home communities, retail outlets, restaurants, entertainment venues, office buildings and much more. Along the Highway 290 corridor you will find multiple luxurious golf courses, country clubs, lakes, and scenic parks which give locals a retreat from the busy city atmosphere along the area.
This road has a diverse number of different income level communities along its borders. You never know what you might find as you drive through miles and miles of smaller Houston communities. The areas surrounding and in Jersey village in Houston are more laid back and suburban feeling while the Steeplechase area is a more upscale community with luxurious apartment homes.
The closer you get to Cypress the more rural the communities start to become on average. Of course the closer you come back in to the 610 interchange the more you will notice the atmosphere becomes a bit more urban with an emphasis on small business office strips and industrial complexes that make up the Northwest Houston area. Along the innermost portions of this corridor are the communities of Kempwood, Langwood, Westview, and Spring Branch East. At the peak of the interchange you will find Northwest Mall, a great place to enjoy inner-city shopping and dining.
There are a lot of great places to live, shop and dine along the 290 corridor for almost any walk of life.
