Interstate 610 also known as “The Loop”, and “Loop 610” is a roadway that circles Houston’s downtown area. The 610 loop ends up circling areas such as River Oaks, South Central Houston, The Greater Fifth Ward, and Greater Heights. The areas on the inner and outer portions of the loop are greatly diversified by culture and income levels. Different directional portions of I-610 are called “The North Loop, The West Loop, The East Loop, and the South Loop” respectively. There are shopping, sporting, food and other entertainment venues all along the loop along with housing of all types. There are some lovely apartment communities along the Bellaire area that spans around the West loop and further north you find the communities of Afton Oaks, Lazybrook and Timbergrove. On the North side of the loop you have communities such as Greater heights, Houston heights, and Northside Village. Further along you run into the Northeast Houston area and a strong industrial portion of Houston is passed through along the East loop. To the South you have the South Central Houston area and a little further back to the West passes you by the Reliant Astrodome and the Reliant Stadium. These sporting venues border the Museum district of Downtown.
Along the West loop you will find the beautiful Washington Avenue Memorial Park which a park dedicated to the memory of soldiers of WWI. popular with Houston Joggers and has several different sporting venues, contains golf course, tennis court, a place to play softball, go skating, play volleyball and much more. The Lazybrook and Timbergrove areas just North of the park are beautiful deed restricted communities with gorgeous upscale apartment homes and housing developments.
The 610 loop intersects with most of the major highways passing through Houston and makes for a very convenient place to live, work, and play.
