The Addicks – Park Ten area of Houston is an area which lies just north of highway 10 along the energy corridor. Along the north side of the area lies the Bear Creek Pioneers Park area which has over 2,000 acres of land and forms a portion of the Addicks Reservoir. This area was originally settled by German immigrant farmers in the mid 19th century but much of the community was destroyed in the Great Storm of 1900 that also destroyed much of Galveston causing them to build their seawall.
Because of its location near the energy corridor the areas surrounding highway 10 are a magnet for professionals seeking a nearby location to their jobs in the area. This location is also very convenient to many portions of northwest Houston as I-10 and Highway 6 pass through the area. Just to the south of I-10 there lies the gorgeous Westside area of Houston, Buffalo Bayou, and Terry Hershey Park. Along highway 6 just south of I-10 there is also George Bush Park. The location is also just a short drive from Katy a few miles to the West and West Houston Airport lies just outside the westernmost border of the area.
The local school system is part of Katy ISD and includes such schools as Wolfe Elementary, Mayde Creek Jr. High, Memorial Parkway Jr. High, Mayde Creek High school and James E. Taylor High School. In the early to mid 20th century the area was a part of the Addicks ISD but was later absorbed into nearby districts.
The Addicks area is beautiful and has parts lined with trendy shops, antique stores, and outstanding restaurants. This location offers something for the nature lover and the professional who has a taste for upscale suburbs. There are beautiful apartment communities located in the area and lovely housing developments nearby also.
This is a convenient and breathtaking place to live and work along the Northwest boundaries of the greater Houston area.
