Downtown Houston is at the heart of the thriving Houston metropolis and serves as a major business and entertainment district. This location is the founding portion of Houston and its heritage is commemorated in the Historic district of the downtown neighborhood. There are multiple districts within the neighborhood which serve a variety of purposes and there are several luxurious apartment communities found within the area. The downtown area is bordered by Interstates 10 and 45 along with State Highway 59. This neighborhood is towered with skyscrapers dating as far back as the late 19th century. There is always a lot to do in Downtown Houston as it contains quite a bit of everything for just about any walk of urban life.

The Historic district contains buildings and landmarks from the early founding of Houston as a city just after the war for independence from Mexico was won. The Skyline district is a business centric portion of the neighborhood which caters primarily to professionals and is peppered with magnificent skyscrapers. One Shell Plaza is home to the oil giant for its namesake, Shell Oil company and is one of the most well known buildings in all of Houston.
The theater district contains several venues for the arts, the Houston aquarium, and several other major entertainment attractions that will keep residents and visitors entertained for hours on end.
Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, TX (METRO) runs throughout Houston and contains a light rail. Main Street Square is famous for its unusual architecture and arched water fountain jets that the light rail trains pass through.
Entertainment and shopping is plentiful with sporting venues such as the Houston Astros (MLB) at Minute Maid Park and Toyota Center home of the Houston Rockets (NBA).
